Our worship values need to be consistent with the core values of The Door.  Of the five congregational core values, the first one is Worship that encounters God.

Worship that encounters God
  • The Word of God proclaimed with clarity, creativity and relevance for today
  • The Holy Spirit speaking to believers and people seeking God
  • A service that takes into account those still seeking the Lord
  • Expressive, passionate worship, laced with creativity, during which people interact with God and God with us.

What values, then, can we have that specifically relate to the worship ministry at The Door:
  1. We value simplicity in worship that draws people to focus on Jesus Christ.
  2. We value time during which people can hear God speaking to them.
  3. We value expressive, passionate worship, laced with creativity, during which people interact with God and God with us.
  4. We value depth of theology reflecting the truth of the scriptures in the lyrics.
  5. We value leadership that lifts up Christ, is sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and that authoritatively moves the congregation in a clear direction.
  6. We value a variety of forms in worship expression (i.e. scripture, hymns, choreographed dance teams, creative communion and so forth).
  7. We value an atmosphere that frees people to respond in worship in ways that honors  their particular comfort level or freedom.
  8. We value music that is current, want to lead songs with a band that would be culturally current/familiar to non-believers.
  9. We value striving for excellence and doing to the best of our abilities our part.
  10. We value pursuing the presence of God in worship, allowing the Holy Spirit to breathe new life and freedom in to each morning.
